'Tis the Season, Challenge #9

Here's another challenge for the 'Tis the Season Blog, where is Christmas all year long!  This time we have a color challenge for you: Chocolate Chip, Marina Mist, and Whisper White.

The cool thing about this card is that I used something that has been on the counter of my studio for about two years!  A few Christmases ago, I made those 3D ornaments featured by Stampin' Up.  You know the ones... where you need to use the ornament framelits to cut out 20 or more ornament shapes?  So I had these negative images left over, and I couldn't throw them away.  They looked really cool, and I knew that I would find a use for them one day.  And today is that day, baby!

Stamp Sets: Petite Pairs
Other: Oval punch, Scallop oval, chocolate grosgrain ribbon, rhinestone brad, ribbon punch, glue dots, scallop edge punch

Here's a close up of the sentiment and the rhinestone brad.

So, what are you going to create for this challenge?  You know you want to play along!  Come over to 'Tis the Season and join us!

Really Good Greetings and Polka Dots

I love polka dots and am really happy with how this card turned out.

Colors used: Marina Mist DSP, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Stamp sets: Really Good Greetings
Other: Chocolate ribbon, circle punches, oval punches

Joyous Celebrations and 'Tis the Season

I know that I am on the design team, but when I saw this challenge, I really couldn't decide what to make.  I pulled out all my reindeer stamps and played around a bit.  This is the other card I came up with.

I used both Pistachio Pudding and Gumball Green.  I really liked the use of the oval with the dotted frame inside of the embossed oval with the dotted frame.

Head on over to 'Tis the Season and play along on challenge 8!

Dasher and 'Tis the Season Challenge 8

Here's my take on the inspiration picture for this challenge on 'Tis the Season for challenge number 8.

I used my wood background stamp and stamped Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake paper.  Then I embossed lines on the front side every 3/4".  Then I used my Chocolate Chip marker to draw lines on the paper to create the wood panel look.  Next I used my framelit circle to create a circular opening in the front.  Then I stamped Dasher in Chocolate Chip on a piece of white scrap paper.  I put that on a Soft Suede base.  Finally, I used Pistachio Pudding and Gumball green paper to create a wreath around the circular opening.  Can you tell what I used to make the leaves?

Inside, I used Hand Penned Holidays to offer a message to the recipient.  I stamped it in Chocolate Chip ink.

Why don't you grab some paper and stamps, look at the inspiration photo and play along with us?

Just Because

Before my break was over (and after I read 4 books), I wanted to get some studio time in.  I made these two cards.  I didn't follow a challenge.  Instead, I decided to used a few stamps that I've had for a while but haven't used before...

I'm pretty happy with the way that these turned out!  I also need more cards for my Caring Cards ministry, another reason for me to create some cards.

Here's the first one: a tree background stamp.  I do LOVE how it looks!  It was, however, a pain in the rear to prep.  I had to use my  markers to color the branches brown.  Then another marker to color the leaves green.
This second card uses the leaves and stems... again a stamp that I bought that I'd never used.  (Sorry for the sideways picture... sideways is an improvement... it was upside down for a while)

Anyway, I stamped in Gumball Green, then colored the leaves in using Pear Pizzazz.

Both perfect cards for the Caring Cards ministry.

Festive Flurries and 'Tis the Season Challenge 7!

Merry Christmas!  We have quite the challenge this week on 'Tis the Season!  As always, I was stumped for a bit, but I am happy with what I came up with.  When I saw the sketch, I did immediately think of snowflakes.  I used the Festive Flurries set and various circle/dot embossing folders.

I had to make two cards, each slightly different.  Can you tell where the top snowflake is from?

Each snowflake has a bling brad in the center and is popped up using stampin' dimensionals.

I hope you all got exactly what you hoped for this year, and I hope that you will continue to join us on the 'Tis the Season challenge.  Can you imagine, if you make one or two cards using our challenge every other week, how many cards you'll have to send to family and friends by Christmas 2014?!?
