Button, Button, Who's Got the Button?

I do!  I've got five of them on here!  Stampin' Royalty issued the challenge this week of using buttons, and this is my answer to their call.

Colors: Old Olive, Sahara Sand, Whisper White

Stamp sets: Bright Blossoms, Apothecary Art

Other:  Edgelits, large scallop, brights buttons, white baker's twine, ribbon

I did CASE this from a recent Stampin' Success magazine, but I chose to make it the long, skinny type of card (6.5" x3.25").  I struggled a bit with it, but in the end it ended up being a very simple card, but I'm pretty sure that whoever receives it will be very happy with it.

Ornate Ornaments

This is the final creation (or is it???) for two of my favorite blog challenges this week: The Friday Mashup and Stamping 411.  This sketch is all Stamping 411.  The Friday Mashup provided the Christmas theme and the decorated inside of the card.

I used a retired DSP that I have.  The colors are Real Red, Sahara Sand and Whisper White.  I bottom layer of DSP is repeated inside the card.  That paper ties in the ornament on the front of the  card with the ornament from Tags Till Christmas.   It's hard to see in the picture, but the bottom layer of red (and only red) is embossed using a non-SU embossing folder that is ornaments.  You'll have to trust me when I say it ties in nicely and is very cute!

Inside there is also a Christmas greeting from the set.... Christmas Greeting.  This might be my favorite inside of all the cards I've done today.

Also, it's hard to see on the front ornament (I gotta get a better camera!), but there are several pieces of bling in multiple sizes.

Darling Dasher

This is the second card I've created combining both The Friday Mashup weekly challenge (making a Christmas card with the inside of the card decorated) and the weekly sketch challenge from Stamping 411.   I seriously love how this one turned out!

I started with a base of Chocolate Chip that I embossed with s snowflake embossing folder (non-SU).  I also used Very Vanilla, and Close to Cocoa.  The cocoa layer is also embossed using the flurries embossing folder.  There is also a layer of retired DSP, the big chocolate and cocoa snowflakes (I don't know that name).
On the top, I added Dasher.  I just love that reindeer!  I added a few Dazzling Details to him, but he was just missing something.  That's when I added the brads.  It completed the look for me.

Inside, I stamped Dasher again after stamping the front of the card without re-inking.  Again, I love this lighter, subtler Dasher inside.  The sentiment is from Four the Holidays.

Simple Snowflake

Once again, I am combining a few challenges here.  I started with The Friday Mashup.  This week, the ladies on TFM offer us the challenge of creating a Christmas card, or a card that is also decorated on the inside, or we can mash it up and create a Christmas card that is decorated on the inside.  I am combining this challenge with the weekly sketch challenge over on Stamping 411.  The ladies from Stamping 411 have given us a very cool sketch challenge this week.

This is the first one I created.  I used an old and retired DSP.  I know it's hard to tell, but the snowflake is stamped in Chocolate Chip and is punched out.  I tried and tried to take a better picture, but my camera is just not all that.

Colors:  Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Old Olive, Very Vanilla

Stamps: Simple Snowflake, Peaceful Wishes

Other: Snowflake punch, Dazzling Details

CAS-ual Color Challenge

I created this card for the challenge on CAS-ual Fridays.  This week their challenge was to create a clean and simple project using the challenge colors they provided: lime, aqua, and navy.

I pictured this card the moment I saw the challenge.  I used Papillon Potpourri and the new realistic butterfly punch to create this card.

I used a base of Tempting Turquoise, then a layer of Whisper White, and then one butterfly in Lucky Limeade, Tempting Turquoise, and Pacific Point.

I stamped the butterfly in black and then punched it out and used glue dots to attach it to the card so that the wings could still come off the page a bit.

I toyed around with adding a sentiment, but this CAS card was just great this way.  I love it and it is so simple.

This IS a Dynamic Duo

I created this card for this week's color challenge on The Dynamic Duo blog.  I am loving this week's color combo: Early Espresso and Crumb Cake!  How great do these two colors look together?  I added a neutral of Very Vanilla and a star is born!

I used Reason To Smile, the special July only stamp set and Because I Care, a retired hostess set.  I also used the new wood grain embossing folder, the postage stamp punch and the new apothecary accents framelits (I think that's the name), and some square brads.  The flower is colored in with my Crumb Cake marker and the stem is River Rock

I did case this card from a Stampin' Success magazine.  I just love how it turned out!  What do you think?

Bootiful Christmas

This is the first card I've entered for the Merry Monday challenge.  I love the idea of building up my holiday card stash before the holidays roll around.  So you will be seeing me around here more!

So here's my take.  As usual, I made two, with one being slightly different than the other.  That's the great thing about our DSP.  You can switch from one side to the other and create a totally different card.

So for this card, I used a base of Gumball Green.  I used two different strips of the Be of Good Cheer DSP.  I used Very Vanilla and stamped my boot from Bootiful Occasions in black and then I colored the book in with my Cherry Cobbler marker.  I popped the whole panel up in the center, which I cut out with the labels collection framelit.  Then I used the "Merry Christmas" sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Finally, I finished off the whole thing with some Crystal Effects on the puffs and top of the boot (you can't tell from the pictures, but you gotta trust me, it adds the perfect touch).

Witchy Wear

This is the sketch that the folks over on The Paper Players have blessed us with this week.  There's something about it that I am just digging!  Thanks, Paper Players!  Every time I look at a different stamp set, I think, "Oh!  This would work with that sketch..."  We'll see how many I end up doing!

I was looking at the Bootiful Occasions set and thought, "Oh!  This would work with that sketch..."  I actually started with the cowboy boot, but after stamping and cutting out two cowboy boots, I wasn't feeling it.  I switched to the witch boot and pulled out some OLD DSP.  I wanted to put the sentiment "Happy Bootday" in the circle, which kind of demanded that this be a birthday card.  I thought, "Well, this could be a birthday card for someone in October."  It's a cool card, but then I started to wonder if the recipient will be offended... you know... think I am calling them a witch.  What's your opinion?  Can I give this card to a friend with an October birthday (not my grandma, who does have an October 30th birthday).  I'd appreciate your feedback/opinion!  Leave a comment and help a sister out!

Colors: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Gumball Green, Whisper White
Other: 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches, glimmer brad

August Class

How cute is this little tin?  I think it's precious, and we will be using this CD tin as a holder for 4 floral cards (with matching envelopes)!  I just love it, and once again, it will make a great gift for a friend for a birthday, hostess gift or just because.
This class is being offered on Friday, August 10th at 1:00.

If you want to come and that time doesn't work for you, please let me know, and we can work out a time that does work for you.

The cost for the class is $15.00, but supplies are limited.  I have only 9 of the CD tins so it will be first come, first served on this class.  If you are interested in making this, please let me know ASAP.
I hope to hear from you and create with you soon!

On a Roll...

I am on roll this week!  Here's another challenge.  This time, I am doing the Stamping 411 weekly challenge, a weekly sketch challenge and one of my favorites.  It's one of the first challenges I ever did.

Here's my take on the sketch the ladies gave us this week.

Stamp set: Fresh Vintage
Colors: Whisper White, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Wild Wasabi
Other: Floral Frames Framelits, Finishing Touches Edgelits, 2 1/2" Circle punch

Zoo for You!

Here's another sketch challenge for me this weekend!  I am really on a roll!  This time, I am playing along with the Paper Players, and they have a pretty sweet sketch challenge this week.

I have been eyeing Zoo Review for quite some time.  There's just something about it that calls to me, so finally I purchased it.  Then it sat on my counter for while just waiting for the right time to ink it up.  Today was that day.

I've used it twice today, and I love it!  This sketch was just right for this adorable giraffe.  Don't you just love him?

Stamps used:  Zoo Review, Petite Pairs, Woodgrain
Colors used:  Soft Suede, River Rock, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Old Olive
Other: Blender Pen

Stop that Lion...

If you are counting, this is my third entry for this sketch challenge!  I told you it was just hitting my creative nerve!

I made this care for this week's challenge over on The Friday Mashup.  This week, we were challenged to make a project following this sketch, or make a project with a lazy summer day theme, or mash-it-up and do both.

This card does mash-it-up (that lion does look pretty lazy, doesn't he?)  For those of you who don't know, I have a special place in my heart for lions, and I've been wanting to ink this big guy up for awhile now.  Today was his day.

Stamp Sets:  Best Dad Ever, Zoo Review, Woodgrain
Colors: Soft Suede, River Rock, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla
Ink Colors: Soft Suede, Early Espresso, More Mustard, Old Olive, River Rock
Other:  2 1/2" circle punch, Spellbinders circle dies

So Sweet!

I just love the sketch that the ladies on The Friday Mashup have for us this week.  It is just clicking wit my creative brain right now.  So this week the challenge was to use this sketch... or create a project with a lazy summer theme... or mash-it-up and do both.

I decided to mash-it-up and I created this card.  I really am happy with it.  As I've said before, when I make a card, I usually make two, and I usually make changes so each card is different, even if slightly.  I loved this card so much that I just made two (and the only difference was the size of the top, black layer on the second one... a minimal change).

Stamp sets: Mouthwatering and Sweet Scoops
Colors:  Whisper White, Gumball Green, Melon Mambo, Basic Black
Others:  White Gel Pen, embossing plate, stampin' dimensionals

Flowering Flourishes

Here's another one for the Dynamic Duo color challenge.  This week the challenge is to use Poppy Parade and Basic Black.  We were also offered a dessert option of adding punches to the project.

Here's my card.  I used Flowering Flourishes, a great set, and Great Friend.  I also used lots and lots of punches.  I used the scallop oval, the large oval, the small oval, the Boho Blossoms, and the Itty Bitty shapes punches.  I punched flowers in both poppy and black, and I used white brads as the center of each flower.  Both the flowers and the sentiment are popped up.

The other cool thing about this card is that the part of the card that opens is the top layer of white, which is 7 1/2" x 3 3/4"... I'm not doing a good job of explaining... here's a picture to show you what I'm talking about...

Butterflies and Flowers

These two cards were designed to meet the requirements of both the Dynamic Duo and The Friday Mashup blog challenges.  This week's color challenge on the Dynamic Duo was to use Poppy Parade and Basic Black.  A dessert challenge was also offered: punches.  For the Friday Mashup, you were to use this sketch, or create a summer themed card, or mash-it-up and do both.  I think both the butterfly and the flower count in the summer theme, don't you?

There is a base of Poppy Parade in both, then there was a layer of Poppy Parade DSP.  In this butterfly card, I used the Papillon Potpourri set.
I also used the Wacky Wishes set.  It's hard to tell from the picture, but the butterfly is punched out.  Actually, there are two.  One punched out in poppy on the base and one with the butterfly image stamped in black on poppy and punched out and popped up!

Inside it a birthday message.

Too cute...
I wasn't as crazy about this one, but I did use the blossom petals builder and the large scalloped circle, both punches.  It follows the sketch, it uses the colors, and I am always messing up and needing to apologize for something, so I will totally use it!

Blue (and Pink) Birds of Happiness

This is the second card I've designed for this week's challenge on Dynamic Duos, the color challenge blog.  This week the challenge was to use Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette and Very Vanilla.

I also used the Occasional Quotes stamp set, the bird punch, various embossing envelopes and some pearls (for the bird's eyes).

Feeling Blue... and Pink

Call off the search dogs... I am alive and okay!  I made a promise to myself to do the weekly challenges on Dynamic Duo from the start, and I was doing so well.  But then I went away for my family vacation (I know... feel bad for me...), which was a good reason to miss a week of the challenge.  On return from vacation, I had to go to the ER for what turned out to be torticolis, and we have no idea how I got it, but let me tell you, it is PAINFUL!  I was given painkillers, which knocked me out so I basically slept for the next week, thus missing two weeks in a row of challenges.  BUT... I'm back, and once again, I've combined my two favorite challenges, Dynamic Duo, a color challenge blog with a color challenge this week of Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette, and The Friday Mashup.  This week, the challenge was to make a project with a banner or flag, or make a project with a matching envelope or mash it up and do both.

I made two cards following the same basic sketch: a birthday card and a thank you card.

Colors Used: Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
Stamp sets: Happiest Birthday Wishes, Word Play
Other: various edgelets and embossing folders and edges, paper-piercer, white twine
